A secure web server encrypts the data sent between the web
server and the browser. This allows secure transmission of personal data and is often used to transmit credit card details.Having a Secure Web Server is essential for taking personal details and for helping gain customer confidence.
Firstly from a technical nature "the data is encrypted" and secondly your customer knows that in order to get a secure server certificate your company details have been verified by an independent body so "you are who you say you are".
To setup a secure web server you need both a Secure Web Server Certificate and a SSL Encrypting Web Server.
Secure Web Server Certificate
This provides you with a "key" that allows your secure web server to encrypt
the data. Before a secure web server certificate can be issued you will be asked to present documentary evidence about yourself / your company - this is to give "customer confidence" that the person they are sending their details to has
been validated by an independent body.
Secure web server certificates are available for most platforms including Apache, Microsoft IIS, Lotus Domino and many more. If you want to enquire about a secure server certificate for your

To register a secure server certificate costs £135 per year.
SSL Encrypting Web Server
Once you have your secure web server certificate you need the actual secure, encypted web server. These servers use a system
called SSL (secure socket layer) to encypt the data transmitted between your browser and the secure web server. 40-bit encryption is the most common (especially outside the US) although 128-bit encryption is used by many banking and
financial applications.
If you already have your own web server hosted elsewhere you may only need the secure web server certificate. If you would like us to setup the secure, encrypting web server the cost is £95 per year.
This fee
includes the setup of one PGP key using our form processor so that information submitted via a form on the site can be encrypted before being emailed to you. Please note that if you change your key or require additional PGP keys to be
setup there will be a charge of £25 per key.
