What is the difference between the
secure server certificate registrars?

We generally recommend (and use ourselves) Thawte secure (SSL) server certificates. Thawte are the second largest registrar with 35% of the secure (SSL) web server certificates currently in use around the world.

Thawte server certificates are significantly less expensive (about 1/3 the price!) than Verisign certificates - that is the main reason we recommend them!

If you require or would prefer a Verisign certificate please contact us - we are able to provide both Thawte and Verisign certificates and secure web server services at very competitive prices!

Technically there is no difference between a web server using any of these secure server certificates. Both certificate registrars support the main web server platforms (Apache, Microsoft Internet Information Server, Netscape Commerce Server, Lotus Notes/Domino etc.) so there is little to choose between them!

Recently Thawte were purchased by Verisign - currently both are still issuing their own certificates.
